Membership at Our Savior's From Pastor John: While there is clearly a formal/technical element to church membership (you can vote at the congregational meeting), we are trying to understand it here at Our Savior's as something more substantial. Member and non-member can fully participate in all aspects of congregational life, worship, programs, etc. The decision to become a member is a way of making a declaration or commitment, both by the individual and the congregation, about mutual caring and support for one another. To the extent that this has to do with theological premises, it is not so much about intellectual assent but the decision to share into that theology as it is lived out together in the life of the community. For example, we can say that we "know" that the Gospel calls us to be a welcoming place, or you can learn that by how we actually live it out. If you'd like more information on membership at OSLC, please email Pastor John.
