Theater and Theology

The Rocky Mountain Synod has a special arrangement with The Denver Theatre Company of The Denver Center for the Performing Arts to see each of its productions at a reduced ticket price and enjoy a theological talk-back. Our Savior's Lutheran Church, as part of the synod, may also enjoy the discount.

Theater and Thelolgy runs from fall into early spring.

After each performance, we engage the cast in a moderated talk-back on theological issues in the play. The performances are on a Tuesday evening during the 10 month theatrical season (with the exception of A Christmas Carol which is a Saturday matinee).

Theater and Theology (T&T), an educational offering that Rocky Mountain Synod congregations of the front range have been enjoying for the past 18 years.

T&T goers can see as many, or as few, of the season’s 10 plays as they wish. Some select just a couple; other congregations haven’t missed any performances in all these years! We have had nights with more than 150 attendees and as few as 25 There is no minimum number to tickets each congregation needs to order to get the group rate.

Children

Although most performances do not admit children under six years of age, some plays may be suitable for families with children. Older children may enjoy many of the other plays, although some plays may deal with themes more likely to be enjoyed by adult audiences. Consult the play descriptions for more information.

Great Wall Story

On a slow news day in 1899, three Denver reporters decide to dream up a hoax. Their story: the Great Wall of China is being torn down. Based on actual events, Lloyd Suh’s fast-paced, high-spirited play shows once again what a tangled web we weave.

T&T Congregational Coordinators

The preferred method of making reservations for a play is through our congregation coordinator. As a thank you for the coordinator's effort to promote participation in “T&T”, our coordinator is offered a free ticket for one of the plays of their choosing during the season.

The T&T Congregational Coordinator contacts Marcia Bollman at 303-791-1585 (or e-mail her) with the number of tickets requested on or before the deadline). A check for the amount due as soon as possible and at least one week before the performance date to Marcia Bollman, 3564 W. Boardwalk Circle, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129.

Make your reservations as early as possible, as seating is limited. Make your checks payable to "Rocky Mountain Synod." Please note at the bottom of your check, "T & T: (name of play)."

Coordinators: Please be at the theater by 6:00 p.m. to pick up your group’s tickets.

If you are unable to reach a Congregational Coordinator and you would like to attend a play, you may email Marcia Bollman with the number of tickets requested on or before the deadline. You must then send a check for the amount due as soon as possible and at least one week before the performance date to Marcia Bollman, 3564 W. Boardwalk Circle, Highlands Ranch, CO 80129.
