Four films examining issues related to faith and sexual identity will be shown on Saturdays during March. All screenings will be at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 915 E. Ninth Avenue (at Emerson) beginning at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free. The scheduled films are: March 1 In Good Conscience Chronicles the true story of Sr. Jeannine Gramick, who is defying a Vatican edict that she shut down her compassionate ministry to gay & lesbian Catholics, and silence herself on the subject of homosexuality. March 8 For The Bible Tells Me So Critically acclaimed documentary which examines the use and abuse of scripture in the debates within churches. Features Bishop Desmond Tutu, Rev. Jimmy Creech, Rabbi Steve Greenberg and others. March 15 Anyone and Everyone Families from diverse ethnic, national and religious backgrounds share intimate accounts of how their children revealed their sexual orientation and discuss how they responded. (No show March 22) March 29 The Saint of 9/11 A moving tribute to Fr. Mychal Judge, a Franciscan priest killed while serving as fire department chaplain on 9/11/2001. Fr. Judge was known for his ability to minister to a wide array of people: police, firefighters, homeless, people living with AIDS and more.
This program is presented jointly by Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and Imago Dei Catholic Community. Imago Dei is a member of the Ecumenical Catholic Communion and ministers primarily to gay & lesbian Catholics. Imago Dei gathers for Liturgy at Our Savior’s, noon Sundays. |
